From the valuable to the stinking, a cronicle of nauseau
By Rafael Rodriguez Rivera “Pachiclon”
I use my drawings as the means to express my ideas, taking monsters and the aesthetic of the bizarre as the principal element to express myself.
My works relate to the tastes and interests I have had since my childhood. Music, movies, images and books are invaluable influences that have fed my vision of the world.
We live in a world run by people who teach us to discriminate against those who are not “normal”, to look down on those with deformities and to fear what is different. I have decided to take advantage the different manifestations of man, without rejecting not judging that which is unfamiliar to me.
I find myself draw to the aesthetic of the misunderstood, of the rejected and the marginal. I like monsters and I identify with them. When I create art I hope to create a bond with the people who feel attracted to the same themes, it is a way for me to tell people who I am.
Drawing (Illustration) is the instrument I use to liberate myself from prejudice, it is my tool that helps me divulge what I think, it is what I live and why I live. My drawings represent personal experiences, where ugliness and deformity, do not determine the integrity or the honor of a person. Many times it those considered “normal” who represent true monstrosity.
I am a monster who drags in the hope of understanding.
Who is it that determines what is important?
